Au Pair stories-Tana
Tana's year as an Au pair
I lived with the Campbells family. They were very nice and kind. They treated me well. They had 3 kids, a dog, a hamster, a gerbil, and fish. They lived an active andbusy life.We skied in the winter, went to the beach in the summer and did many sports such as tennis, soccer, basketball, baseball, cycling…
My family thought a happy au-pair is the best au-pair. They took a good care of me.We had a good relationship. I never complained about anything. They tried to give me as much comfort as they could. Also the kids were lovely and so sweet.
My room was located in the basement. I had my privacy there. It was cosily furnished, equiped with a tv, dvd player, double bed, and a door leading to a bathroom.
I started my day at about 7a.m. I Prepared breakfast for the family, then I cleaned up after breakfast, and did laundry. Sometimes i took the kids to school. Most of the time i drove -every afretnoon around 3 pm I picked up the girl from her school. Then I made a snack for the kids, played various games with them such as basketball, table games, soccer, or cycling. Other times I took them to an ice cream shop, pet store, plaster fun time, tennis lessons, baseball lessons or to the movies. I made a simple dinner, then did homeworks with the children and made luncheboxes for the next day. Sometimes I babysat.
During my free time I regularly went to a gym. I went to the state college and i studied in my room almost every day. I liked going to the movies and out with my friends.
I made plenty of new friends.I‘m still in touch with some of them. And none of them are from my own country.
I liked the study aspect of the program. I took a business class and a TOEFL class. I finished both of them succesfully. I attendeded Framingham State College. I had very nice teachers. The business class was a little bit boring but I enjoyed the TOEFL class.
